Admission requirements at GCDI include a Master's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university and an original verification statement from an ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) accredited DPD program. Students who have not yet graduated can have their DPD Director submit a declaration of intent.

The program gives preference to candidates with DPD GPA of 3.4 or above, full time work experience and candidates with graduate degrees. The strength of the proposed rotation sites and preceptors is also an important component of the application selection process.
